Tri-Valley Girls Use Big First Half for Win over Milbank

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls used a big first half to help them to a 65-54 win over the Milbank Bulldogs on Saturday, February 10th.

The Mustangs scored 45 of their 65 points in the first two quarters of play.  They built a 23-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and then went into halftime with a 45-18 lead.  Tri-Valley scored the first three points of the third quarter to go ahead 48-18.  Milbank did rally in the second half.  They cut the lead to 55-33 going into the third quarter.  They continued to rally and got within nine points, 60-51, late in the game, but the Mustangs held for the win.

Tri-Valley shot 41% (22-54) from the field overall, 27% (8-30) from three-point area, and 65% (13-20) from the free-throw line.  Milbank shot 48% (19-40) overall in the game, 52% (11-21) from three-point area, and 63% (5-8) from the free-throw line.  The Mustang defense was able to force 20 turnovers resulting in 30 points.

Lauren Grinde had 27 points, three rebounds, thee assists, and five steals.  Elizabeth Davey had 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Mattie Huwe finished with eight points and three rebounds.  Haliey Sorenson added seven points.
