Tri-Valley Girls Survive Lennox

After having a 20-point lead in the first half, the Tri-Valley Mustangs (8-10) survived the Lennox Orioles 55-51 at home on Thursday, February 9th.

Tri-Valley outscored Lennox 26-9 in the first quarter and had a 29-9 lead early in the second quarter of the game.  Lennox cut into the lead by the end of the second quarter, but only slightly.  The Mustangs led 35-23 at halftime.  The Orioles kept chipping away at the end in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley’s lead shrunk to 42-38 going into the final quarter.  Lennox took a 49-48 lead late in the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs ended the game on a 6-2 advantage for the win.

The Mustangs shot 39% (20-52) from the field overall, 46% (11-24) on three-point attempts, and 4-5 from the free-throw line.  Lennox shot 33% (19-58) overall, 23% (7-30) from three-point area, and 6-12 from the free-throw line.

Lauren Grinde had 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Steph Buchmann had 14 points, three rebounds, and five assists.  Mattie Huwe added six points and six rebounds.  Madelyn Wenzel also had six points with four rebounds and two assists.  Hillary Hastings ended with five points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Ava Pearson had four points and three rebounds.
