Tri-Valley Girls Headed to SoDak 16

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls kept their season going with a win in Garretson on Thursday, February 22nd.  The Mustangs advanced to the SoDak 16 after defeating the Blue Dragons 48-37 in the Region 3A Tournament.

Both offenses had a hard time getting baskets to fall in the first half.  Garretson held an 8-6 lead after the end of the first quarter.  The two teams went back and forth in the second quarter with the Blue Dragons holding an 18-17 lead at halftime.  The Mustangs made some big three point shots in the third quarter.  Garretson was able to answer those big shots with big baskets of their own.  The game was tied 30-30 going into the fourth quarter.  Tri-Valley continued to make big shots in the the fourth quarter and the defense held Garretson to just seven points for the win.

The Mustangs shot 33% (15-45) from the field overall, 31% (8-26) from three-point area, and 77% (10-13) from the free-throw line.  Garretson finished the game shooting 34% (13-38) overall, 25% (3-12) on three-point shots, and 50% (8-16) from the free-throw line.

Lauren Grinde finished with 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Elizabeth Davey had 12 points and four rebounds.  Madelyn Wenzel added 11 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.  Mattie Huwe ended with eight points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Emery Pearson had two points.
