Mustang Girls Post Season Run Ends in SoDak 16

The post season run for the Tri-Valley Mustang girls came to an end in the SoDak 16 on Thursday, February 29th in Watertown.  The Mustangs fell to the Sisseton Redmen by a score of 63-52.

Tri-Valley trailed by just two points, 8-6, halfway through the opening quarter.  Sisseton finished the quarter with a 17-11 lead.  The Redmen led 20-13 after the first four minutes of the second quarter, but then they finished the quarter on a 13-3 run to take a 33-16 lead into halftime.

Sisseton was able to extend their lead to 22 points, 44-22, in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley went on a 10-4 run to cut the lead to 48-32 going into the fourth quarter.  The Redmen pushed the lead to over 20 points again, 55-32, with 6:00 to go in the game.  The Mustangs rallied to pull within 11 points, but ran out of time.

Tri-Valley shot 36% (21-59) overall, 19% (4-21) from three-point area, and 6-8 from the free-throw line.  Sisseton finished the game shooting 57% (27-47) overall, 44% (4-9) from three-point area, and 5-7 from the free-throw line.

Lauren Grinde finished with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Madelyn Wenzel added 14 points, four rebounds, and five steals.  Hilary Hastings had nine points.  Emery Pearson had five points and four rebounds.  Mattie Huwe had four points.
