Tri-Valley Girls Face Tough Vermillion Team

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team traveled to Vermillion to face the #4 Tanagers on Tuesday, December 19th.  The storyline of the game was how things faired for both teams.  Vermillion took the win 61-27.

The two teams had a complete opposite type of night.  Vermillion couldn’t seem to do any wrong, while not a whole lot went right for the Mustangs.  The Tanagers shot 51% (25-49) from the field, 50% (5-10) from three-point area, and 6-9 from the free-throw line while also forcing 22 Mustang turnovers.  Tri-Valley couldn’t buy a bucket finishing the game shooting 24% (8-34) overall, 17% (3-18) from three-point area, and 57% (8-14) from the free-throw line.

The Tanagers had an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, and then things unraveled for Tri-Valley.  The Tanagers led 35-13 at halftime and 51-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Hailey Sorenson had seven points and seven rebounds.  Lauren Grinde finished with six points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Mattie Huwe and Abigail Wagner each had three points.  Jaidyn McMillen, Elizabeth Davey, Hillary Hastings, and Madelyn Wenzel all had two points apiece.
