Mustang Girls Back in Action, Drop Game to Titans

Back in action for the first time since December 19th, the Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team hosted the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Thursday, January 4th.  The Mustangs dropped their third straight by a score of 65-50.

After the Mustangs led by score of 2-0 and 4-2, the Titans went on an 8-0 run for a 10-4 lead in the first quarter.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton ended the first quarter with a 20-15 lead.  They would outscore the Mustangs 20-11 in the second quarter for a 40-26 halftime lead.  Tri-Valley cut into the lead in the third quarter, but only by two points.  The Mustangs trailed 52-40 going into the fourth quarter.

Tri-Valley shot 32% (17-53) overall in the game, 32% (7-22) from three-point area, and 60% (9-15) from the free-throw line.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton was 47% (23-49) shooting overall, 43% (9-21) from three-point area, and 56% (10-18) from the free-throw line.

Elizabeth Davey had 21 points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Lauren Grinde added 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Hailey Sorenson had five points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Emery Pearson ended with four points and two rebounds.
