Second Half Surge Gives Panthers Win over Tri-Valley Boys

After a tie game at halftime, the Dakota Valley Panthers went on a second half surge to defeat the Tri-Valley Mustangs 88-56 on Friday, January 24th.

Both teams held small leads in the first quarter.  The Panthers held a 21-17 advantage by the end of the quarter.  Both teams again held a small lead in the second quarter.  The first half came to an end with a 35-35 tie.

Dakota Valley then went on a big run in the second half.  The Panthers outscored Tri-Valley 26-11 in the third quarter to take a 61-46 lead into the third quarter.  They would also outscore the Mustangs 27-10 in the final quarter for the win.

Tri-Valley shot 40% (19-48) overall from the field, 37% (7-19) on three-point attempts, and 69% (11-16) from the free-throw line.  Dakota Valley finished the game shooting 47% (28-60) overall, 45% (13-29) on three-point shots, and 76% (19-25) from the free-throw line.

Ty Oyen had 23 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Brady Jewett finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Alex Wingen added eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.
