Second Half Comeback Falls Short for Tri-Valley Boys

The Tri-Valley Mustags (5-13) had a second half rally come up short against the Baltic Bulldogs on Monday, February 20th.  After having a double-digit lead cut to one point, the Bulldogs held for a 63-57 win.

The Bulldogs took advantage of Tri-Valley’s cold-shooting first quarter and built a 19-8 lead going into the second quarter.  The Mustang’s offense got going in the second quarter, but Baltic’s offense also kept rolling.  The Bulldogs led 32-23 at halftime.  Tri-Valley continued to chip away at the lead in the the third quarter and got within a point, 41-40, with 1:30 to go.  Baltic scored the final three points and lead 44-40 going into the fourth.  The Mustangs cut the lead down to one point again 47-46 with 6:20 left in the game.  Baltic answered with a 6-0 run for a 53-46 lead with 5:00 left.  Tri-Valley got within three points, 60-57, with :24 to play, but that was as close as they could get as the Bulldogs made three free throws in the closing seconds.

Noah Haynes had 23 points and five rebounds.  Trey Johnson added 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Brayden Oyen had seven points, and Logan Ellison finished with six points and four assists.  Carter Sorenson ended with five points and two assists.
