Mustangs Football Winning Streak Comes to an End

A three-game winning streak by the Tri-Valley Mustang football team came to an end on Friday, September 27th.  The Dell Rapids Quarriers held Tri-Valley to six yards of total offense in a 44-6 win.

The Quarriers had a fumble recovery in the endzone for a touchdown after they fumbled the ball in the first quarter to give Dell Rapids a 6-0 lead.  In the second quarter, Dell Rapids added a five-yard touchdown pass.  A made two-point conversion made the score 14-0.  The Quarriers got a three-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to extend the lead to 21-0.  The Mustangs lone touchdown came on an 85-yard punt return by Brody Dybvig.  The Quarriers would add a 27-yard field goal before halftime to make the score 24-6.

Dell Rapids had two more rushing touchdowns in the third quarter.  The first one was three yards and the second touchdown was 54 yards.  They made one of two extra points on those touchdowns to increase the lead to 37-6 going into the fourth quarter.  The final score came on a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Tri-Valley’s six yards of offense came from 22 passing yards, but -16 rushing yards.  The Quarriers 369 yards of total offense, 70 passing yards and 289 passing yards.  Dybvig finished with nine carries for -5 yard.  Owen Effling had a catch for 22 yards.  Dylan Christensen led the defense with six tackles.
