Mustangs Fall to #2 Elk Point-Jefferson

The Tri-Valley Mustang football team ran into a tough Elk Point-Jefferson team on Friday, October 7th.  The #2 ranked Huskies had a big first half on their way to a 48-7 home victory.

Elk Point-Jefferson had four touchdowns in just the first quarter. With 9:45 to play, the Huskies had a 10-yard touchdown run.  They scored again on a 17-yard run with 6:04 to play in the quarter.  The third touchdown was on a 16-yard run with 4:28 to play.  The Huskies scored one more time in the quarter on a 20-yard run with 1:48 left.  They made three of four extra points and led 27-0 after the first quarter.  The defense was also very strong forcing three Tri-Valley fumbles in the quarter.

The offense kept rolling for the Huskies in the second quarter.  They had a three-yard run for a score with 5:37 left in the half.  The Huskies scored one more time with under a minute to play on a 30-yard touchdown pass.  Elk Point-Jefferson led 41-0 at halftime.

Each team got a score in the second half.  Elk Point-Jefferson got their touchdown in the third quarter on a 30-yard run.  Tri-Valley was able to put the ball in the end zone with 2:19 left in the game.  Landyn Reiser had a five-yard touchdown run.

Brody Dybvig finished 1-6 passing and had an interception.  Carter Sorenson had the lone catch in the game.  Colby Carruthers had six carries for 59 yards.  Dybvig had eight carries for 33 yards, and Reiser had four carries for eight yards and a touchdown.
