The Tri-Valley Mustangs played a close match against the Madison Bulldogs at home on Thursday, September 26th, but the Bulldogs won in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 27-25, and 25-23.
The first set had multiple ties in the first half. The score was tied 2-2, 5-5, 10-10, and 13-13. Madison went ahead 16-15. The Bulldogs added a point to the lead at 21-19. Tri-Valley got within a point, 22-21, but Madison scored the final three points.
Madison started the second set with a 3-1 lead. Tri-Valley responded with a 5-2 run for a 6-5 lead. They continued to lead 10-9. The Bulldogs went back in front 14-13, but the Mustangs went on a 3-0 run for a 16-14 lead. Tri-Valley continued to lead 20-19, but Madison regained the lead 22-21. The Mustangs tied the score 24-24 and then 25-25, but Madison scored the final two points for a 27-25 win.
The Bulldogs started the third set with a 3-2 lead. After a 6-6 tie, Tri-Valley went on a 6-1 run for a 12-7 lead. The Mustangs stayed in front at 15-12, but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score 15-15. The score was tied again at 17-17 and 20-20. Madison scored the next two points for a 22-20 lead and they stayed in front to the 25-23 win.
Abigail Wagner finished with 16 set assists, 11 digs, two ace serves, and two kills. Macey Boese had 14 digs, four kills, two ace serves, and two blocks. Emery Pearson added nine digs, five kills, and dthree ace serves. Madelyn Wenzel had 10 kills and 11 digs. Emily Wenzel finished with nine set assists and seven digs, and Tori O’Toole ended with 11 kills.
