Mustang Volleyball Suffers Road Loss in Canton

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball traveled to Canton to play the C-Hawks on Tuesday, on September 19th.  The C-Hawks won the match in four sets by scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, and 25-21.

Canton started the first set with a 4-1 lead.  Tri-Valley eventually tied the score 9-9 only to see Canton go back in front 16-13.  After ties at 17-17 and 19-19, the Mustangs went on a 3-0 run for a 22-19 lead and took the first set 25-21.  The Mustangs started the second set with a 5-2 lead.  Canton responded with a 12-2 run to go ahead 14-7.  Tri-Valley tied the score 15-15, but the C-Hawks went ahead 19-15 and finished the set on a 6-2 advantage for the 25-17 win.

Canton took that momentum and started the third set on a 7-1 run.  They continued to pull away and led 14-5 and 20-11.  The C-Hawks took the third set by a score of 25-16.  Tri-Valley, looking to force a fifth set, started the fourth set with a 4-2 lead.  Canton scored five straight points to go ahead 7-4.  After an 8-8 tie, the C-Hawks went on a 4-0 run.  They maintained their lead until Tri-Valley tied the score 20-20.  Canton, however, would end the match on a 5-1 run for the win.

Madelyn Wenzel had 19 kills and nine digs.  Victoria O’Toole added nine kills and two digs.  Hillary Hastings finished with seven kills and two set assists.  Abigail Wagner had 37 set assists and 10 digs.  Kenzie Atwood finished with a team-high 20 digs.  Nevaeh Grann also had 10 digs.
