Dakota Valley Holds off Tri-Valley Girls

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls fell a few points short against Dakota Valley on Friday, January 24th.  The Panthers held off the Mustsangs 76-67 in a high-scoring game.

Tri-Valley jumped out to an 11-0 lead to start the game.  Dakota Valley recovered and cut into the lead.  The Mustangs led 22-16 at the end of the first quarter.  The Panthers continued to rally in the second quarter.  They outscored Tri-Valley 15-6 and led 31-28 at halftime.

The Mustangs went on a 12-4 run through the first portion of the third quarter to go back in front 40-35.  The Panthers, however, would end the third quarter with a 53-44 lead.  The Mustangs was able to get within three points early in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers were able to hold them off for the win.

Tri-Valley shot 33% (21-63) overall in the game, 38% (13-34) on three-point shots, and 63% (12-19) from the free-throw line.  Dakota Valley shot 51% (21-41) overall, 54% (7-13) from three-point area, and 90% (27-30) from the free-throw line.

Mattie Huwe finished with 22 points, two rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  Izzy Davey had 15 points and four rebounds.  Hailey Sorenson added 13 points, two rebounds, and four assists.  Peyton Vogt ended with seven points and three rebounds.
