Canton Able to Hold off Tri-Valley Girls

Every time the Tri-Valley Mustang girls made a run, the Canton C-Hawks had an answer.  The C-Hawks held off the Mustangs for a 45-38 win on Tuesday, January 28th.

The Mustangs started the game with the first made three-point shot.  Canton went on an 8-0 run to take an 8-3 lead.  Tri-Valley cut the lead down to 10-8 by the end of the first quarter.  The Mustangs went back in front 18-14 in the second quarter.  Canton, however, answered with a 7-0 run to end the quarter for a 21-18 halftime lead.

The Canton run continued into the third quarter as the C-Hawks scored the first two points of the second half for a 23-18 lead.  Tri-Valley went on an 8-2 run to go in front 26-25 advantage.  Again Canton responded and took the lead back, 31-28, going into the fourth quarter.  The Mustangs tied the game 31-31 early in the fourth quarter, but Canton went on an 8-0 run to go in front 39-31.  That final run was enough to keep Canton in front the rest of the game.

Mattie Huwe finished with 12 points.  Izzy Davey added 10 points.  Maddie Wenzel ended with six points.  Kadence Davey and Emery Pearson both had three points each.  Emery Jones and Peyton Vogt both had two points apiece.
