Tri-Valley Loses Second Straight Road Match

The Tri-Valley Mustangs traveled to Dell Rapids for a Region 3A and Dak-12 match-up against the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Thursday, September 15th. The Quarriers won in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-23.

Dell Rapids opened the match on fire building a quick 7-2 lead in the opening set. The lead grew to 16-5 before the Quarriers won the opening set 25-14. After a 9-9 tie in the second set, Dell Rapids went on a 9-2 run for an 18-11 lead. Tri-Valley got it back within five points, 23-18, but Dell Rapids took the last two points to win the second set.

The third set went back and forth. Dell Rapids had the early lead 11-6 and held the lead until the Mustangs battled to an 18-18 tie. The Quarriers won the next two points, but Tri-Valley responded with two straight of their own for a 20-20 score. Again Dell Rapids took a small lead by scoring the next three points, 23-20. And one more time, the Mustangs rallied to tie the score, this time 23-23. The Quarriers got the final two points to win 25-23 and win the match.

Madelyn Wenzel finished with seven kills, three digs, and a block.  Erica Bicknase added four kills and a dig.  Megan Wenzel had four kills, an ace serve, and a dig.  Emery Pearson had two kills and two blocks.  Nevaeh Grann finished with nine digs and nine set assists.  Brooklyn Stieben added four digs and six set assists.  Kenzie Atwood and Cheyenne Hanson both had four digs each. Atwood also had two ace serves.
