Cougars Rally in Middle Quarters in Win over Mustang Boys

The McCook Central/Montrose Cougars rallied in the second and third quarters to earn a 68-60 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs in Salem on Tuesday, February 18th.

Tri-Valley held a seven-point lead with about 1:20 to go in the opening quarter, and the first quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 22-18.  McCook Central/Montrose, however, held the Mustangs to just seven points in the second quarter and took a 38-29 lead into halftime.  The Cougars would build a 15-point lead with 3:50 to play in the third quarter and continued to lead by 15 going into the fourth quarter, 61-46.

The Mustangs shot 43% (23-54) overall in the game, 39% (11-28) on three-point shots, and 3-6 from the free-throw line.  McCook Central/Montrose finished the game shooting 36% (21-58) overall, 39% (11-28) from three-point area, and 60% (15-25) from the free-throw line.

Ty Oyen finished with 19 points and six rebounds.  Teagin Gacke added 14 points.  Alex Wingen had 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Brady Jewett also had double figures with 11 points along with four rebounds and three assists.
