Mustang Volleyball Falls in 2024 Home Opener

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team opened their 2024 season at home against the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, August 28th.  The Blue Dragons won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-22.

Garretson started to pull away about the midway point of the first set.  After the Blue Dragons started the set 4-1, Tri-Valley tied the score 4-4.  Garretson would rally to take a 13-8, but the Mustangs fought back to tie the set 14-14.  The Blue Dragons slowly pulled away for the 25-18 win.

The second set started a lot like the first.  Garretson held a 7-4 lead, but Tri-Valley pulled within a point, 7-6.  The Blue Dragons led 11-9 before finishing the set on a 14-3 run for the 25-12 win.  Garretson started with a 6-2 in the third set.  They built that lead to 14-7.  Tri-Valley slowly chipped away and got within a point, 22-21, but Garretson finished the match with a 3-1 run.

Madelyn Wenzel finished with eight kills and eight digs.  Emery Pearson had five kills and a block.  Emry Jones added three kills and a block.  Emily Wenzel had seven set assists and eight digs.  Abigail Wagner had nine set assists.  Tori O’Toole finished with three kills.  Macey Boese had eight digs.  Cheyenne Hanson and Brooke Steineke each had four digs on the night.
