Grinde Hits 1,000 Points, Mustangs Fall to Chargers

Lauren Grinde hit 1,000 career points with a left-handed layup with 1:43 to play in the third quarter on parent’s night.  Sioux Falls Christian, however, held on for a 48-43 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday, February 6th.

The Chargers built a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 13-8.  They were able to extend the lead to 22-14 by halftime.  The two teams both scored 17 points in the third quarter, and Sioux Falls Christian led 39-31 going into the fourth quarter.  The Chargers pushed the lead to 43-31 with 5:40 to play.  Tri-Valley went on a 10-1 run to cut the lead to 44-41 with :35 left in the game.  The Chargers, however, made enough free-throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Grinde finished with 16 points and two rebounds.  Madelyn Wenzel added nine points and five rebounds.  Julie Mauszycki also had nine points, two rebounds, and three steals.  Mattie Huwe had five points and three rebounds.
