Mustang Girls Go Toe-to-Toe but Fall to Tea

The Tri-Valley Mustangs went toe-to-toe with the Tea Area Titans on Tuesday, January 10th, but ultimately fell just short, 63-54.

The Titans were able to build themselves a nine-point lead, 20-11, by the end of the first quarter.  The Mustangs fought back and got within two points, 23-21, with about two minutes to play in the first quarter.  Tea, however, finished the second quarter on a 7-3 run for a 30-24 halftime lead.

Every time the Mustangs made a run, the Titans were able to respond and maintain the lead.  Both teams scored 16 points each in the third quarter, and Tea maintained a six-point lead, 46-40, heading into the final quarter.  Tri-Valley was within striking distance late in the game, but the Titans made their free throws in the closing minute to get the victory.

Lauren Grinde had 18 points, three assists, and two steals.  Ava Pearson finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Stephanie Buchmann added nine points, six rebounds, and two steals.  Hailey Sorenson also had six points along with five rebounds.
