Battle of the Cardinal Friday Night

January 17, 2014 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

DRSM LogoThe Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls and boys basketball teams are traveling to Arlington to take on the Cardinals on Friday, January 17th.  The Friday night boys game turned into a double-header with the girls teams after weather postponed the Thursday night girls games.

The St Mary girls team enters the game against Arlington on a three game winning streaking.  The streak started with an overtime win in Chester on 12/30 by a score of 51-48.  They followed that game with a win over Marion 52-41 on January 3rd.  The third win game against Lake Preston on January 7th by a score of 59-43.  St Mary looks to pick up their fourth win in a row and sixth on the season.

The St Mary boys team is looking to get back into the win column.  They have lost four in a row, however, in a couple of those games even though the final score is deceiving, St Mary has been within striking distance of picking up a win.  St Mary looks to pick up their second win on the season and second win in the Dakota Valley Conference.

Hear what both Coach LeBrun and Coach Schmidt had to say about their team’s in their previous games and what they must do to pick up wins in Arlington.
