Quarrier Defense Shuts out Canton

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier defense held the Canton Hawks scoreless as Dell Rapids went on to win 28-0 on Friday, September 30th, in Canton.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Quarriers were able to break through in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Matt Gillogly to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.  The Quarrier offense then took control in the third quarter scoring three times.  Hunter Hansen scored on a 37-yard run to put Dell Rapids ahead 14-0.  Anthony Miller had a touchdown run of two yards, and Seth Spielmann scored on a 64-yard run later in the third to extend the lead to 28-0.

Hansen finished the night 6-14 passing for 161 yards.  Tanner Heim had three catches for 130 yards.  Mason Peter had two catches for 25 yards.  Nick Boever and Jeffry Schuch each had a catch.  Seth Andersen finished the night with nine carries for 78 yards. Hansen had eight carries for 51 yards.  Miller had seven rushes for 42 yards, and Heim had 10 carries for 20 yards.

Gillogly had four tackles for the defense, including three for a loss and one sack.  Heim also tallied four tackles.  Nate McKee finished with three tackles and a fumble recovery.  Ross Wiebenga had a fumble recovery, and Peter had an interception for the Quarrier defense.

Dell Rapids improves to 4-2 on the season.  The Quarriers will host Milbank Area on Friday, October 7th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Quarriers Win Homecoming Game over West Central

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarriers scored 21 unanswered points in the second half on their way to a 21-7 win over the West Central Trojans on Homecoming Friday, September 23rd.

West Central scored on a three-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but that was the only score they would get the rest of the game. The Trojans did lead 7-0 at halftime, but Dell Rapids scored two times in the third quarter and one more time in the fourth for the win.

Anthony Miller had seven carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. Tanner Heim had six carries for 52 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Hansen carried the ball 13 times for 27 yards. Matt Gillogly had three carries for 21 yards and a touchdown. Hansen was 3-6 passing for 32 yards. Mason Peter had a catch for 25 yards. Seth Andersen had a catch for seven yards. Peter led the team with six tackles. Ross Wiebenga, Cole VanDuyn, and Andersen all had five tackles each.

Dell Rapids improves to 3-2 on the year. The Quarriers will travel to Canton on Friday, September 30th. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Tea Area Shuts Out Quarriers

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Tea Area Titans posted a 19-0 shutout against the Dell Rapids Quarriers on their Homecoming Night Friday, September 16th.  Tea scored right away on an 84-yard kick-off return for a touchdown by Adam Heien to go ahead 6-0.  The Titans added another score with :57 left in the first quarter on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Payton Conrad to Jacob Rotter.  The score remained 13-0 at halftime.  The final touchdown came on a fumble recovery for a touchdown with 9:38 to go in the third quarter.

Dell Rapids had the ball for 31:14 in the game as compared to just 16:46 for Tea Area, but the Quarriers were just 2-13 on third down conversions and 4-9 on fourth down conversions.  Dell Rapids also fumbled the ball five times, losing two of them, and also had two passes intercepted.

Hunter Hansen finished the game 4-14 passing for 72 yards and two interceptions.  Hansen also carried the ball 20 times for 95 yards.  Tanner Heim had 14 cararies for 59 yards, and Adam Nagelhout had nine carries for 17 yards.  Nagelhout also hauled in two catches for 38 yards.  Matt Gillogly had six tackles, four for loss, and an interception.  Nate McKee finished with five tackles and an interception.  Heim, Seth Andersen, and Mason Peter all finished the game with five tackles.  Trevor Pulscher had four tackles, including two sacks.

Dell Rapids falls to 2-2 on the year.  The Quarriers will host West Central on Homecoming Friday, September 23rd.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Quarriers Roll in Win over Tri-Valley

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier football team went to Tri-Valley and rolled the Mustangs 35-7 on Friday, September 9th.  The win was the second win in a row for the Quarriers.

Tri-Valley scored first in the game, but Dell Rapids scored 35 unanswered points.  The Quarriers led 7-6 after the first quarter.  They added two more scores in the second quarter for a 21-6 halftime lead.  Dell Rapids then scored a touchdown in third and fourth quarters.

Dell Rapids finished the game with 271 yards rushing and 101 yards passing for a total of 378 yards of offense.  The Mustangs were held to 153 rushing yards and seven passing yards for a total of 160 yards of offense.

Hunter Hansen was 5-12 passing for 106 yards and a touchdown.  Hansen also had nine carries for 55 yards and a rushing touchdown.  Seth Andersen had 12 carries for 89 yards.  Tanner Heim had eight carries for 44 yards and a touchdown along with two catches for 68 yards and a receiving touchdown.  Adam Nagelhout had six carries for 36 yards and a rushing touchdown.  Matt Gillogly finished with seven carries for 18 yards and a touchdown.  Ross Wiebenga had seven tackles for the Quarrier defense.  Gillogly added five tackles, and Nate McKee had four tackles.

Dell Rapids improves to 2-1 on the year.  The Quarriers travel to Tea Area on Friday, September 16th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Quarrier Football Evens Record with Win

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarriers picked up their first win of the year on Friday, September 2nd, in Dell Rapids.  The Quarriers defeated the Vermillion Tanagers 27-0.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter, but Dell Rapids took the lead in the second quarter to go ahead 6-0 at halftime.  Dell Rapids put up two more touchdowns in the third quarter for a 21-0 lead, and then added one more score in the fourth for the win.

Dell Rapids finished the game with 386 yards of total offense, 308 rushing yards and 78 passing yards.  The Quarriers had 21 first downs, only turned the ball over one time, and had the ball for a total of 24:07 in the game.

Hunter Hansen was 5-9 passing for 78 yards.  Mason Peter had two catches for 46 yards.  Nick Hoffman, Anthony Miller, and Seth Andersen all had receptions as well.  Andersen also had 14 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns.  Tanner Heim carried the ball 10 times for 68 yards.  Hansen had six carries for 59 yards.  Seth Spielmann had four carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.

The Quarriers improve to 1-1 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Tri-Valley on Friday, September 9th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Madison Hands Quarrier Football Opening Loss

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Madison Bulldogs spoiled the season and home-opener for the Dell Rapid Quarriers on Friday, August 26th.  Madison defeated Dell Rapids 35-6.

Madison got on the board with 5:19 to go in the first quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by Josh Giles.  The Bulldogs would score two more times in the second quarter.  Mason Leighton caught a 63-yard pass from Giles with 11:50 to go in the half, and then Leighton scored on a 90-yard punt return with 9:01 to go in the half to make it a 23-0 lead.

Leighton would add one more touchdown as he had an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open up the third quarter.  Madison scored again with 7:59 to go in the third quarter on a one-yard run by Riley Janke.  Dell Rapids picked up their lone touchdown with :47 to go in the third quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Hunter Hansen.

Hansen finished the game throwing 1-6 for six yards and one interception.  Hansen also had 12 carries for five yards and a touchdown.  Tanner Heim had 13 carries for 55 yards.  Anthony Miller had nine carries for 41 yards, and Seth Andersen had 11 carries for 34 yards.  Matt Gillogly had the lone catch for six yards.

Gillogly led the defense with five tackles, one of those for a sack.  Andersen had four tackles and sack.  Nick Hoffman had three tackles.  Jeffrey Schuch, Heim, Hansen, and Ross Wiebenga all had two tackles each.

Dell Rapids had a total of 177 yards of total offense, while Madison had a total of 245 yards.  The Quarries did have 14 first downs, but turned the ball over four times and were penalized seven times for 37 yards.

Dell Rapids will host Vermillion on Friday, September 2nd, and the game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Dell Rapids Quarrier Football Team Serves at The Banquet

DellRapidsFBBanquet_2The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team served a little over 400 people at The Banquet on the evening of Tuesday, August 2nd.  About 35 players, some of the coaches, their wives, and a few Quarrier football fans were on hand to serve the meal.

The money that was raised during the annual fall fundraiser, the discount card sold by the football players, was used to fund this wonderful opportunity. DellRapidsFBBanquet_1

Two from Dell Rapids Playing in SDHS All-Star Football Game

Two football players from Dell Rapids will be playing in the South Dakota High School Football All-Star game this year. Josh Brown from Dell Rapids St Mary will play for the Red Team and Griffin Ellison will play for the Blue Team.

The game this year will be held on Saturday, July 9th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.  This is the first time in the game’s history that it will not be held in Aberdeen.  The players will report to Vermillion on July 6th for practices and events leading up to the game.  There are 84 athletes from around the state participating this year.Full Rosters

Quarrier Football Ends Season with Win

DRvsLennox_FB_10-22-15_1The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team ended their 2015 season with a win in Lennox 19-13 against the Orioles on Thursday, October 22nd.  The Quarriers led the game from start to finish on their way to the win.

The Dell Rapids defense scored the first touchdown of the game with 3:24 to go in the first quarter.  Trevor Pulscher returned a fumble recovery 57 yards for a touchdown to give Dell Rapids a 6-0 lead.  The Quarriers scored again with 10:42 to go in the second quarter when Matt Gillogly scored on a one-yard run to put Dell Rapids ahead 12-0.  The Quarriers ended the first half with a 12-0 lead.

Lennox got on the board in the third quarter with :57 remaining in the quarter when Nicholas Kayl caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Leisinger to pull the Orioles within six at 12-6.  Sam White added another score for Dell Rapids with 3:07 remaining in the game on a one-yard run.  The extra point was good to push the Quarrier lead to 19-6.  Leisinger and Kayl connected again with :13 to go in the game on a 30-yard touchdown pass to make the score 19-13.  Dell Rapids was able to recover the onside kick and run out the clock for the win.

Dell Rapids finished the game with 20 passing yards and 155 rushing yards for a total of 175 yards of offense.  Lennox finished with 274 yards of total offense.  Both the Quarriers and Orioles were 3-9 on third downs.  Dell Rapids won the turnover battle forcing four Lennox turnovers while the Quarriers only had one. Hunter Hansen finished 2-5 passing for 20 yards and an interception.  White had 15 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown.  Gillogly also finished with a rushing touchdown and 16 receiving yards.  Ross Wiebenga had seven tackles for the Quarriers.  Nate McKee added six tackles, two of them for loss, and had a fumble recovery.  Pulscher had a fumble recovery.  Anthony Miller and Hansen each had an interception in the game.

Dell Rapids finished their season with a 4-5 record.
