Dell Rapids Quarrier Football Kicks Off Friday

August 30, 2012 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

The Dell Rapids Quarriers kick off their season on Friday, August 31st, as they host Canton on their journey for a 3rd straight 11A football championship.  This year will be a tough road to the dome as seven of the eight teams on their schedule were either ranked or had votes to be ranked in the preseason polls.  Head coach Steve Hansen said, “It is a very demanding schedule and there is no room for a learning curve for our team that does not have a lot of varsity experience.  We have to stay away from injuries and develop the depth for any unexpected circumstances that may pop up.  I feel like our kids have worked hard in the off season and are focused in the preseason so hopefully that is going to happen.  Our goals are high but realistic, we expect to give it our all every game and to improve every week.  If that happens we feel we will be competitive when playoffs come around.”

2012 Schedule:

  • 8/31 – Canton
  • 9/7 – @ West Central
  • 9/14 – Madison
  • 9/21 – @ Tri-Valley
  • 9/28 – Tea (Homecoming)
  • 10/5 – @ Dakota Valley
  • 10/12 – Sisseton
  • 10/18 – @ Milbank
