The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team suffered a big inning against Tri-Valley on Thursday, April 23rd. The Mustangs scored 12 times in the bottom of the fourth to help them to a 16-2 victory.
Neither team scored in the opening inning. The Mustangs got a run in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead. Gabriella Carstensen drove home a run on a ground ball to tie the game 1-1 in the top of the third. Tri-Valley regained the lead, 4-1, with three runs in the bottom of the third. Emma Lanpher scored on a passed ball in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Mustangs then had their big 12-run bottom of the fourth.
Aisley Grib had two hits. Lexi Scherff, Ella Johnson, and Maci Millage all had one hit each. Carstensen ended with an RBI. Scherff pitched three innings and allowed seven runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Emily Baker threw one inning and allowed nine earned runs on seven hits and three walks with a strikeout.
