Beresford’s Early Lead Helps Them to Win over Quarriers

The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team hosted the Beresford Watchdogs on Monday, April 20th.  The Watchdogs used an early lead to help them to a 12-2 win.

Beresford scored four times in the top of the first.  They added two more runs in the top of the second for a 6-0 lead.  After a scoreless third inning, the Watchdogs scored one more time in the top of the fourth.

Emily Baker had an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth to put the Quarriers on the board.  Lexi Scherff added an RBI single to make the score 7-2.  Beresford would score three more times in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh inning.

Scherff had three hits and an RBI.  Josie Becker ended with a double.  Parker Matzke, Maci Millage, and Londyn LaFourtune all had one hit each.  Baker ended with an RBI.  Baker pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts.  Scherff pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits with two strikeouts.
