Rorie Thoreson wowed the crowd with an impressive three-point shooting night against the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Thursday, February 5th. Thoreson set the school record for most three-point shots made in a single game with 10 made three pointers. That performance helped the Quarriers get a 69-59 home win.
Tri-Valley grabbed an early 8-3 lead with 5:30 to go in the first quarter. They continued to lead 10-5 with 3:30 left. Dell Rapids would go on a 6-0 run to take an 11-10 lead. They led 14-12 at the end of the quarter. The Quarriers maintained that lead in the quarter and held a 28-25 advantage at halftime.
The Mustangs went on a run in the third quarter and grabbed a 35-34 lead with 5:00 to play in the quarter. Dell Rapids would regain the lead and were ahead by two points, 50-48, going into the final quarter. The fourth quarter is where the Quarriers would pull away for the win.
Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 40% (22-55) overall, 45% (10-22) on three-point shots, and 65% (15-23) from the free-throw line. Tri-Valley shot 35% (23-65) in the game, 17% (4-23) from three-point area, and 56% (9-16) from the free-throw line.
Thoreson finished with 34 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Elin Schoenhard also had a great game. She had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Jersi Schultz added 12 points and four rebounds. Taylor Schmidt had five points, four rebounds, and three steals. Josie Price ended with three points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
