After nearly a month and a half of road games, the Dell Rapids Quarrier boys finally got to play their first home game of the season on Tuesday, January 13th. Unfortunately for the Quarriers, the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers were able to pull away in the middle quarters for an 85-56 win.
Both teams got off to quick starts in the game. The Chargers were able to build a seven-point lead, 20-13, by the end of the first quarter. Sioux Falls Christian’s offense continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring 24 points. That helped them to a 44-27 lead at halftime. The Quarriers went step-for-step with the Chargers through the middle portions of the third quarter. Dell Rapids trailed 56-40 with 3:25 left in the quarter. The Chargers, however, starting gaining momentum again. They led 66-47 going into the fourth quarter and then outscored the Quarriers 19-9 in the final stanza for the win.
Dell Rapids shot 43% (22-51) from the field overall, but just 29% (5-17) on three-point attempts and 70% (7-10) from the free-throw line. Sioux Falls Christian was 48% (35-73) shooting overall, 38% (12-32) on three-point shots, and 3-7 from the free-throw line.
Camden Jones had 15 points and seven rebounds. Lincoln Anderson ended with 11 points and three rebounds. Jackson Peppel finished with 10 points. Karson Paye had seven points, three assists, and three steals. Jace Brende had six points.
