A night after a tough road trip to Dakota Valley, the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team got back into the win column with a home win over the Vermillion Tanagers on Tuesday, October 7th. Dell Rapids won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-9.
Dell Rapids got off to a bit of a slow start in the first two sets, but found their stride with big rallies. After a 2-2 tie to start the opening set, Vermillion took a 6-4 lead. They also led by a score of 8-5. Dell Rapids then went on an 11-1 run to go in front 16-9. Dell Rapids never let the Tanagers get much closer and won the first set 25-18.
The Tanagers opened the second set with a 6-2 lead. They continued to hold a lead at 7-5, but Dell Rapids then went on another big run. This time they went on an 11-2 run to take a 16-9 lead. The Tanagers fought back to a 20-15 score, but the Quarriers stopped any rally and ended the second set with a 25-19 win.
The third set belonged to Dell Rapids. The Quarriers started with a 4-0 run and continued to roll from there. They pushed their lead to 13-4 and then to 20-6. Dell Rapids finished the match with a 5-3 run for a 25-9 win.
