The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team will be playing in their third straight state tournament. The Quarriers defeated the Wagner Red Raiders 12-3 in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, May 27th.
Dell Rapids took the momentum early by scoring four times in the bottom of the first. Neither team scored in the second inning, but the Quarriers added two more runs in the third for a 6-0 lead. Wagner cut the lead in half, 6-3, with three runs in the top of the fourth. Dell Rapids made sure the Red Raiders did not take the momentum. The Quarriers scored five times in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 11-3. They would add one more run in the bottom of the sixth. Every player in the Quarrier lineup had at least one hit in the game.
Lexi Scherff had three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Addison Van’t Hof had a triple and single with two RBIs. Rylee Halverson added a single and double with an RBI. Elly Olson had a double and an RBI. Paige Trewin and Ellla Johnson both had a hit with an RBI. Katie Kvigne, Kayleigh Gillette, and Emma Lanpher all had one hit each. Kvigne pitched seven innings and allowed three runs, all unearned, on a hit and two walks with 15 strikeouts.
The 2025 South Dakota State A Softball Tournament will be held in Aberdeen Thursday, June 5th through Saturday, June 7th.
