The second half was a big unkind to the Dell Rapids Quarriers in Volga on Friday, January 24th. The Sioux Valley Cossacks outscored Dell Rapids 35-12 in the final two quarters for a 63-34 win.
The Cossacks started the game hot and scored 23 points in the opening quarter. They led 23-6 going into the second quarter. Dell Rapids was able to settle into a groove on both ends of the floor in the second quarter. The Quarriers chipped away at the lead and cut the deficit to 28-22 by halftime. The lead was still only six points, 30-24, with 7:00 to go in the third quarter. Sioux Valley then finished the third quarter on a 21-2 run to make the score 51-26 going in the fourth quarter.
Rorie Thoreson had 12 points and two rebounds. Jersi Schultz finished with eight points and five rebounds. Elly Olson had five points and two assists. Taylor Schmidt had four points.
