Quarriers Take Down Dakota Valley on Final Regular Season Home Match

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team had their final regular season home match on Monday, October 7th, and they ended the home portion of their schedule with a bang.  Dell Rapids rallied from 2-0 to take down the #1 ranked Dakota Valley Panthers in five sets.

After a 2-2 tie to start the opening set, Dell Rapids scored the next three points for a 5-2 lead.  They kept the lead and increased the advantage to 16-11.  Dakota Valley then rallied to tie the score 17-17 before going on another 4-0 run for a 21-17 lead.  The Panthers led 24-19 before taking the first set 25-20.  Dakota Valley started quick in the second set with a 4-1 lead.  Dell Rapids tied the score 4-4, but the Panthers went back in front 8-6.  The Quarriers went on a 6-3 run to take a slim 12-11 lead.  The lead didn’t last long as the score was tied 14-14.  The Panthers went on a 3-0 run for a 17-14 lead.  They extended that lead to 24-17 and won the second set 25-18.

Dell Rapids would start the third set with a 4-0 run.  Once again the Panthers rallied and would tie the score 7-7.  They used that momentum to take a 12-8 lead.  The Quarriers did not give up and went on a 6-0 run for a 14-12 lead.  They extended their lead to 20-15 and then to 24-17 before winning the third set 25-18.  The Panthers would start the fourth set with a 4-1 run.  Dell Rapids responded with five straight for a 6-4 lead.  That momentum carried the Quarriers.  They slowly built a 17-9 lead.  Dakota Valley would get within four points, 20-16, but the deficit was too great to overcome.  Dell Rapids forced a fifth set with a 25-17 win.

The Quarriers struck first and took a 5-2 lead early in the final set.  After trailing 7-3, Dakota Valley scored four in a row to tie the score 7-7.  Dell Rapids responded with a 3-0 run to go back in front 10-7.  The Panthers were within a point, 10-9, but the Quarriers went on a 4-0 run to go ahead 14-9 before winning the match 15-10.

Sophi Randall had 40 set assists, 18 digs, five kills and four blocks.  Madelynn Henry finished with 19 kills, 10 digs, and two ace serves.  Lauryn Kloth ended with 15 kills, five blocks, and four digs.  Karlie Ingalls had six kills, nine digs, and two ace serves.  Clara Justice had two kills, two ace serves, two blocks, and six digs.  Peyton Hohn finished with six kills and five blocks, while Alaina Wolff had 13 digs.
