The Dell Rapids Quarriers held senior night on Tuesday, October 1st when they hosted the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars. The Quarriers won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-17. This year’s seniors recognized prior to the match were Lauryn Kloth, Clara Justice, and Sophi Randall.
Dell Rapids jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead to start the opening set. They increased their lead to 11-4 and then to 20-11. The Quarriers finished the set on a 5-0 run for a 25-11 win. The Cougars took a 3-1 lead to start the send set. They stayed in front at 6-5, but Dell Rapids took an 8-7 lead after a quick 3-1 run. The two teams were tied 11-11, and then the Quarriers finished the set on a 14-2 advantage for the 25-13 win. McCook Central/Montrose started the third set with a 3-0 lead. Dell Rapids worked to the score to a 5-5 tie, and then they went ahead 9-5. The Cougars cut the lead to 11-10 and then took the lead 13-12. The score was then tied 15-15, but Dell Rapids went on an 8-0 run for a 23-15 lead before winning 25-17.
Randall finished the night with 34 set assists, seven digs, five kills, and five ace serves. Madelynn Henry had 15 kills, three digs, three blocks, and two ace serves. Kloth aded nine kills, five digs, and three blocks. Peyton Hohn had seven kills and two blocks. Alaina Wolff had five digs and three set assists.
