The Dell Rapids 14U baseball team scored two runs late in the game to get a 4-2 win over Garretson on Friday, June 23rd.
Dell Rapids took the early lead with a run in the top of the first. Gage Bunkers had an RBI single to make the score 1-0. Garretson scored two times in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. Dell Rapids would tie the game in the top of the second. Jake Heinitz had an RBI single to make the score 2-2. The score remained tied 2-2 until the top of the sixth inning. Jackson Peppel had a two-out, two-run single to give Dell Rapids the 4-2 lead.
Heinitz had three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Luke Symens and Rhett Thoreson both had three singles each. Bunkers finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Peppel had a hit and two RBIs. Andrew Schoeberl finished with two hits, and Eli Gullickson had a hit. Bunkers pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on three hits with three strikeouts. Peppel pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed a hit and two walks with a strikeout.
