Seventh Inning Rally Leads Dell Rapids Softball to Win over Chargers

The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team traveled to Sioux Falls to play the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in an early afternoon game on Monday, April 13th.  The Quarriers rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to help them to an 8-5 win.

Aisley Grib had an RBI single right away in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  The Chargers tied the game, 1-1, with a run in the bottom of the second.  Emma Lanpher put Dell Rapids back in front in the top of the third with an RBI ground out.

The score remained 2-1 until the seventh inning.  Gabriella Carstensen drove home two with a single.  Jerzi Miller had an RBI single, and Chloe Carver had a three-run triple to make the score 8-1 in favor of Dell Rapids.  The Chargers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Quarriers were able to end the rally for the win.

Carstensen had two hits and two RBIs.  Miller also had two hits with an RBI.  Ella Johnson ended with a triple and single.  Carver had a triple with three RBIs.  Lanpher added a single with an RBI, and Lexi Scherff had a hit.  Emily Baker pitched seven innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
