The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls had their season ended by the Wagner Red Raiders in the SoDak 16 in Irene on Thursday, March 5th. The Red Raiders pulled away in the second half for a 46-31 win to advance to the state tournament.
Both teams had trouble getting the offense going in the first quarter. The game was tied 5-5 for about three minutes until Wagner scored the final three points to take an 8-5 lead at the quarter break. The Red Raiders turned that into momentum and extended their lead to 19-9 with 4:30 to play in the half. The Quarriers were able to cut the lead down to 23-17 by halftime. The Red Raiders extended that lead 10 points, 35-25, going into the fourth quarter. They would push that lead to 18 points, 44-26, with 3:50 to play in the game.
Dell Rapids unfortunately had a cold night shooting. The Quarriers were 20% (13-64) overall in the game, just 1-17 on three-point attempts, and 4-10 from the free-throw line. Wagner was 40% (18-45) shooting overall, 2-14 from three-point area, and 8-12 from the free-throw line.
Rorie Thoreson had 21 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Elin Schoenhard had five points and eight rebounds. Josie Price ended with three points and nine rebounds. Taylor Schmidt had two points. Jersi Schultz finished with 12 rebounds.
The Quarriers finished the 2025-2026 season with a 15-8 overall record.
