The Dell Rapids Quarriers earned a big win against the Dakota Valley Panthers on the road on Friday, February 13th. Dell Rapids took the 48-35 as they try to hold down the second spot in Region 3A.
After briefly trailing 3-2 early in the first quarter, the Quarriers went on a 10-2 run for a 12-5 lead at the end of the quarter. They ran their lead to 21-7 before the Panthers cut the lead to 24-16 by halftime. Dakota Valley got within three points, 27-24, in the third quarter, but the Quarriers pushed their lead to 39-26 by the end of the quarter. Each team scored nine points in the fourth quarter in the Quarrier win.
Dell Rapids shot 32% (19-59) from the field overall, 1-9 on three-point attempts, and 50% (9-18) from the free-throw line. Dakota Valley was 24% (14-58) shooing overall, just 1-19 on three-point shots, and 40% (6-15) from the free-throw line.
Three players finished in double figures for the Quarriers. Josie Price had 17 points and seven rebounds. Jersi Schultz had 11 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists. Elin Schoenhard added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Rorie Thoreson had five points, four rebounds, and two assists.
