The Dell Rapids defense held the Mustangs to no made three-point shots through the vast majority of the game. Tri-Valley would end the game with one made three-point shot, one from the top of the key with :05 left in overtime that would prove to be the game-winner. The Mustangs defeated Dell Rapids 51-50 in overtime on Thursday, February 5th.
The Quarriers started the game with a 6-0 run and took a 16-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Mustangs chipped away at the lead in the second quarter and cut the lead down to 25-22 by halftime. The run continued for Tri-Valley in the third quarter. They went on a 6-2 run for a 28-27 lead with 4:15 to go in the quarter. Dell Rapids responded with an 8-0 run to go back in front 35-28 with 2:00 left. The third quarter ended with the Quarriers leading 35-30.
Dell Rapids pushed their lead to 43-38 with 5:40 left in regulation. Tri-Valley again chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the score 45-45 with :58 on the clock. Neither team would score again, and the game went into overtime. The Quarriers built a 50-46 lead with 1:15 to go. The Mustangs did not make a field goal in overtime until the three-point shot to put them ahead 51-50. A last second shot by Dell Rapids fell away no good at the buzzer.
Dell Rapids ended the game shooting 38% (21-55) overall, 24% (6-25) from three-point area, and just 2-4 from the free-throw line. Tri-Valley shot 41% (18-44) overall, just 1-13 on three-point attempts, and a perfect 14-14 from the free-throw line.
Kaden Smith had 14 points to lead the team in scoring. Jace Brende had eight points and four rebounds. Karson Paye ended with seven points, 11 rebounds, and six assists on senior night. Carson Maeschen had six points, four rebounds, and three assists. Andrew Schoeberl also had six points.

The Quarrier boys C team hosted Tri Valley Thursday afternoon at the Middle School gym and lost an overtime heartbreaker by a score of 43-45.
