The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys suffered a loss to the Luverne Cardinals at the DVC Classic at Deubrook High School on Saturday, January 17th. The Cardinals pulled away for an 84-62 win.
Luverne got off to a fast start and built a double-digit lead, 28-12, by the end of the first quarter. That lead grew to 43-25 with 3:00 to go in the half. The Quarriers fought back to within six points, 44-38, with a 13-1 run to end the half. Dell Rapids would get the lead down to four points, 48-44, with 6:15 to play in the third quarter. Luverne, however, would end the quarter on a 14-6 run to extend their lead to 62-50. The Cardinals would outscore Dell Rapids 22-12 in the final quarter in the win.
Dell Rapids shot 47% (24-51) from the field overall, 32% (6-19) from three-point area, and 67% (8-12) from the free-throw line. Luverne finished the game shooting 56% (32-57) overall, 47% (7-15) on three-point shots, and 76% (13-17) from the free-throw line.
Lincoln Anderson had 15 points in the game. Camden Jones added 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Karson Paye ended with 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Jace Brende had six points, three rebounds, and two assists. Kaden Smith also had six points.
