The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys earned a 69-65 overtime win over the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers in Volga on Saturday, January 10th. The two teams battled back-and-forth all game long. The score was tied 11 times and there were five lead changes in the game.
The opening quarter would end with a 13-13 tie. The Tigers took the first sizable advantage in the second quarter. They led by as many as eight points and led 32-26 going into halftime. Dell Rapids turned things around in the third quarter and outscored Mobridge-Pollock 15-8 in the quarter for a 41-40 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Each team would hold a lead in the fourth quarter. Mobridge-Pollock led 53-51 with 1:30 left in the game. The Quarriers scored the next four point for a 55-53 lead with :40 to play. The Tigers would tie the game from the free-throw line with :33 remaining. The Quarriers held for the final shot, but it was no good and the game went into overtime.
The game was tied 59-59 with 2:30 to go in overtime. Dell Rapids then went on a 6-0 run for a 65-59 lead with under a minute to go. The Quarriers made enough free throws down the stretch to hold for the win.
Dell Rapids shot 34% (22-64) from the field overall, 17% (2-12) on three-point attempts, and 66% (23-35) from the free-throw line. Mobridge-Pollock finished the game shooting 29% (23-79) overall, 14% (4-29) from three-point area, and 65% (15-23) from the free-throw line.
Lincoln Anderson had 19 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Karsen Paye finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Camden Jones added 10 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots. Jace Brende ended with nine points, five rebounds, and three steals.
