The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys basketball team faced the #1 team in Class B, the Castlewood Warriors, at the Entringer Classic in Brookings on Wednesday, December 31st to finish the 2025 year. The Warriors were able to hold off Dell Rapids in the fourth quarter for a 64-59 win.
Dell Rapids opened the game with a 4-0 run. Castlewood would tie the game 4-4 and then again at 7-7. The Warriors would then score the next five points for a 12-7 advantage. Their lead would grow to 17-9 by the end of the quarter. The Quarriers put together a run of 11-3 in the second quarter to tie the game 20-20 with 3:00 to play in the half. The second quarter would end with Castelwood leading 31-27.
The Warriors started the third quarter on a 15-4 run and built a 46-31 lead with 3:00 to go in the third. Castlewood maintained their double-digit lead and went into the fourth quarter leading 49-38. With 5:30 to play in the game, Castlewood led 54-41. Dell Rapids then started to make a run. The Quarriers got within five points, 54-49, with 4:15 remaining. Castlewood would regroup and push the lead back to 10 points, 59-49, with 2:30 to go. The Quarriers got within five again, 59-54, with under a minute to play, but Castlewood made enough free-throws to hold off Dell Rapids.
Dell Rapids shot 39% (22-56) from the court overall, 25% (5-20) from three-point area, and 67% (10-15) from the free-throw line. Castlewood ended the game shooting 43% (20-46) overall, 40% (6-15) on three-point attempts, and 56% (18-32) from the free-throw line.
Camden Jones led the team with 15 points. Lincoln Anderson added nine points. Jackson Peppel finished with eight points. Andrew Schoeberl had seven points. Jace Brende and Kaden Smith both had six points each, and Karson Paye ended with five points.
