Dell Rapids Boys Get First Win of Season in Elk Point

The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys got their first win of the season in Elk Point on Monday, December 22nd.  The Quarriers had a great second half to help them to an 80-56 win over the Huskies.

Both teams played well in the first quarter combining for 40 total points.  The Quarriers held the upper hand going into the second quarter with a 23-17 lead.   The Huskies cut into the lead in the second quarter, but only by two points.  Dell Rapids led 35-31 at halftime.

The Quarriers would slowly extend their lead throughout the second half of the game.  Dell Rapids outscored the Huskies 17-14 in the third quarter for a 52-45 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Quarrier offense found their stride in the fourth quarter.  They scored 28 points in the quarter while holding Elk Point-Jefferson to just 11 points.

Dell Rapids shot 54% (32-59) overall in the game, 47% (8-17) on three-point shots, and 57% (8-14) from the free-throw line.  Elk Point-Jefferson was 37% (19-52) overall in the game, 30% (7-23) on three-point attempts, and 61% (11-18) from the free-throw line.

Five players finished in double figures for the Quarriers.  Karsen Paye had 17 points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists.  Jackson Peppel had 15 points and six rebounds.  Lincoln Anderson also finished with 15 points.  Camden Jones had 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.  Jace Brende added 10 points and four rebounds.
