The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys basketball team will feature their third head coach in as many seasons in 2025-2026. Mathew Cadwell will take the helm this year for the Quarriers.
“We will play as fast and as hard as we can, with multiple efforts. We will positively communicate with each other, welcome discipline, and have a willingness to be coached,” said Cadwell on expectations for this year.
Dell Rapids finished 13-10 last year with a loss to Rapid City Christian in the SoDak 16 to end the season. The Quarriers also lost their two top scorers, three starters, and 55% of their offense from a year ago.
Senior Karson Paye and junior Lincoln Anderson will be counted on heavily this season. Junior Jackson Peppel is disruptive and tough defensively. Senior Carson Maeschen, junior Beckett Nelson, and junior Jace Brende will be asked to be physical and use their strength and versatility while rebounding this year. Juniors Kaden Smith, Andrew Buresh, and Straton Toennis will have opportunities to compete for increased roles.
“Our offseason was very productive. We were in the gym all summer, went to numerous team camps, spent a lot of time together, and challenged each other to get better. Our goals are to continue to improve throughout the season, reach our potential, and hopefully play our best basketball at the end of the season,” added Cadwell.
The Quarriers open the 2025-2026 season on the road at West Central on Friday, December 12th. Dell Rapids will spend the entire month of December on the road with games at Milbank, Baltic, Aberdeen Christian, Elk Point-Jefferson, and versus Castlewood at the Entringer Classic in Brookings. Their first true home game of the year won’t be until January 13th against Sioux Falls Christian.
