The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team is heading back to the state tournament to defend their State A title. The Quarriers cruised through the SoDak 16 with a straight set win on Tuesday, November 11th in Mitchell. Dell Rapids defeated the Todd County Falcons by scores of 25-9, 25-10, and 25-9.
The opening set started with a 4-1 run by Dell Rapids. They would extend the lead to 9-2 and continued to lead by seven at 11-4. Todd County got the lead down to five points, 12-7, but the Quarriers then went on a 10-0 run to make the score 22-7 on their way to a 25-9 win.
The Quarriers started the second set with a 3-0 lead. The Falcons were within four points early, 6-2, but Dell Rapids then went on another big run. The Quarriers went on a 10-3 run for a 16-5 lead. They would cruise to the 25-10 win.
The Falcons trailed by just two points early at 4-2 and 5-3 in the third set. Once again Dell Rapids went on a run, this time an 8-3 run to extend the lead to 13-6. They would grow the lead to 22-8 before taking the final set by a 25-9 score.
Dell Rapids will be the #2 seed in the state tournament. The Quarriers will open the 2025 South Dakota State A Tournament against #7 Rapid City Christian on Thursday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m. central time. The state tournament is being held in Rapid City Thursday, November 20th through Saturday, November 22nd.
