An eight-point run in a minute helped the Milbank Bulldogs to a 56-44 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Saturday, January 18th.
The Quarriers started the game on a 5-0 run and led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. The offenses got rolling in the second quarter. Milbank held a slim 23-21 lead at halftime. Dell Rapids got within a point, 28-27, with 5:30 left in the third. The Bulldogs led by just four points, 33-29, with 1:00 to go. Milbank then went on an 8-0 run in the final minute to take a 41-29 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs maintained their lead as each team scored 15 points each in the final quarter.
Dell Rapids shot 34% (15-44) overall, 32% (6-19) on three-point shots, and 8-10 from the free-throw line. Milbank finished the game shooting 39% (19-49) overall, 33% (8-24) on three-point attempts, and 67% (12-18) from the free-throw line.
Tad Tjaden had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Jack Kloth finished with nine points and five blocked shots. Lincoln Anderson added eight points and two rebounds. Lincoln Fersdahl had six points, four rebounds, and three steals. Karson Paye also had six points with three rebounds and four assists.
