Second Quarter Run Key to Win for #1 Chargers over Dell Rapids Boys

The Dell Rapids Quarriers had their four-game winning streak snapped by the #1 ranked Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Tuesday, January 14th.  The key to the win was a big second quarter by the Chargers.

The first quarter finished with a 16-13 lead for Sioux Falls Christian.  The Chargers held just a four-point lead, 22-18, with 4:35 to play in the second quarter.  That’s when the floodgates opened for Sioux Falls Christian.  They finished the quarter on a 29-7 run and led 51-25 going into halftime.  Sioux Falls Christian also outscored Dell Rapids 20-15 in the third quarter for a 71-40 advantage after three quarters.

Dell Rapids shot 42.5% (17-40) overall, 41.7% (5-12) from three-point area, and 8-9 from the free-throw line.  The Chargers shots 50.8% (33-65) from the field overall, 26.9% (7-26) on three-point shots, and 3-3 from the free-throw line.

Lincoln Anderson had eight points and three rebounds.  Tad Tjaden had seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Karson Paye also had seven points, two rebounds, and two assists.  Jack Kloth ended with six points and six rebounds.  Carson Maeschen and Jackson Peppel both had six points each as well.
