Quarrier Girls Can’t Stop #1 Sioux Falls Christian

The top ranked Sioux Falls Christian Chargers pulled away in the second half for a 76-48 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Tuesday, January 14th.

The Chargers built a 17-9 lead by the end of the first quarter.  The Quarriers went on a run in the first half of the second quarter.  They cut the lead to down 24-20 with 4:15 to play in the half.  Sioux Falls Christian, however, responded with a 13-4 run to end the half.  The Chargers held a 37-24 lead going into halftime.

Dell Rapids tried to rally again to start the third quarter.  They closed the gap to 40-30 with 5:30 left in the third quarter.  The Chargers again stopped the rally.  They finished the quarter on an 18-7 scoring run to extend their lead to 58-37 going into the fourth quarter.

The Quarriers shot 37% (19-52) from the field overall, 44% (4-9) from three-point area, and 6-10 from the free-throw line.  Sioux Falls Christian finished the game shooting 53% (28-53) overall, 48% (10-21) on three-point attempts, and 71% (10-14) from the free-throw line.

Rorie Thoreson finished with 14 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Elin Schoenhard added eight points and eight rebounds.  Elly Olson had seven points, two rebounds, and two assists.  Jersi Schultz ended with six points and three rebounds.  Taylor Schmidt had five points.  Clara Justice and Kassidee Stykel each had four points.
