Huskies Scorch Nets in Win over Quarrier Girls

After the first quarter of the game, it was a tale of two different paths in the game between the Dell Rapids Quarriers and Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Saturday, January 10th.

Elk Point-Jefferson held a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 14-10.  Dell Rapids scored the first three points of the second quarter, and the Huskies held a slim 14-13 lead with 7:00 to play in the first half.  That’s when the Huskies got hot, and the Quarriers got cold offensively.  Elk Point-Jefferson finished the half on a 20-0 run for a 34-13 lead at halftime.  The Huskies continued their run in the second half.  They outscored Dell Rapids 20-8 in the second quarter and 16-5 in the final quarter.

Dell Rapids shot 19% (8-42) overall, 1-17 on three-point shots, and the made three-point shot was made in the final seconds of the game.  The Quarriers shot 56% (9-16) from the free-throw line.  Elk Point-Jefferson shot 51% (23-45) overall.  The Huskies shot 1-6 on three-point shots in the first quarter, but 8-11 after that to finish 9-17 on three-point attempts.  They were also 5-10 from the free-throw line.

Elin Schoenhard finished with six points and seven rebounds.  Jersi Schultz also had six points with two rebounds.  Rorie Thoreson ended with five points, two assists, and two steals.  Mya DeStigter had three points.  Clara Justice had two points and four rebounds.  Elly Olson added two points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Josie Price also had two points.
