The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team held their home opener on Thursday, December 12th against the Madison Bulldogs. Dell Rapids cruised to a 66-29 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Quarriers raced out to a big lead in the first quarter against Madison and never looked back. Dell Rapids led 29-8 going into the second quarter. They extended the lead to 43-14 by halftime. The defense for Dell Rapids held Madison to single digit scoring in each of the final two quarters. The Quarriers outscored the Bulldogs 23-15 in the second half.
Dell Rapids shot 46% (28-61) from the field, 27% (6-22) from three-point area, and 29% (4-14) from the free-throw line. Madison was held to 38% (12-32) shooting, 17% (2-12) from three-point area, and 43% (3-7) from the free-throw. The Quarrier defense forced 35 Madison turnovers, 23 of those coming on steals.
Rorie Thoreson had 18 points, seven assists, and five steals. Jersi Schultz finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Taylor Schmidt added nine points. Elly Olson had six points. Clara Justice ended with five points, five rebounds, and eight steals.
