Dell Rapids Scores First Win of Football Season

In their second straight home game, the Dell Rapids Quarriers notched their first win of the season against Madison on Friday, September 6th.  The Quarriers defeated the Bulldogs 30-13.

Cole Ruesink put Dell Rapids on the board with a three-yard run with 6:47 to play in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead.  Madison grabbed the lead on an 11-yard run with 8:20 to play in the second quarter.  A made extra point put the Bulldogs ahead 7-6.  The lead was short live.  Ruesink put the Quarriers right back in front on an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.  The lead flipped back to Madison after a 71-yard touchdown run with 3:45 to play in the half.  Dell Rapids, however, went into halftime with the lead.  Cooper Frost connected with Tad Tjaden for an 11-yard touchdown pass putting the Quarriers ahead 18-13.

The Quarriers were able to extend their lead throughout the second half.  Quinn Carr had a 10-yard touchdown run with 5:52 to play in the third quarter to make the score 24-13.  Carr scored again with 1:20 remaining in the third on a two-yard run.

Dell Rapids finished with 302 yards of offense, 183 rushing yards and 119 passing yards.  Madison had 190 yards of offense, 126 rushing yards and 64 passing yards.  Ruesink had 16 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown.  Carr had 12 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns.  Ryan Stubbe added four attempts for 24 yards.  Frost was 10-14 passing for 119 yards and a touchdown.  Ruesink had four catches for 51 yards.  Tjaden ahd four catches for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Stubbe had 8.5 tackles, including a sack.  Carr added four tackles and a sack.  Tjaden had 4.5 tackles.  Ruesink added an interception defensively.
