The Dell Rapids Mudcats finished their 2024 regular season with a game on Friday, July 19th and Sunday, July 21st. Dell Rapids defeated Madison on Friday and fell to Renner on Sunday.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 11, Madison 1
The Mudcats scored nine of their runs in the final three innings. They took an early 1-0 lead in the Top of the first inning. They extended the lead to 2-0 with another run in the top of the sixth. Madison cut the lead in half with a run in the sixth. Dell Rapids would add three runs in the seventh, four in the eighth, and two in the ninth.
Every player in the Mudcat lineup had at least one hit. Kole Zimmerman had three hits, including two home runs, and four RBIs. Grant Olson had three hits, including a double. Kris Regas had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Spencer Freudenthal had two hits with an RBI. Mark Abrahamson had two hits, one of those a double. Chad Hunt also had two hits. John Spaeth had a single and an RBI. Cater Gullickson and Dalton Allen both had one hit each.
Renner Monarchs 11, Dell Rapids Mudcats 6
Renner grabbed a 7-0 lead early in the game. They got two in the top of the first, one in the top of the second, and four in the top of the third. The Mudcats got three runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 7-3. Renner added another run in the top of the fourth. Dell Rapids made the score 8-5 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Each team got a run in the seventh, and Renner scored two more in the eighth.
Allen had three hits and two RBIs. Zimmerman had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. S. Freudenthal also had two hits, one a double, with an RBI. Hunt had two hits. Ty Hoglund, Gullickson, and Spaeth all had one hit each.
