The Dell Rapids 14U baseball team played on back-to-back days on Tuesday, June 25th and Wednesday, June 26th. They split those two games, winning on Tuesday, but suffering a loss on Wednesday.
Dell Rapids 8, Sioux Falls Chargers 2
Seven straight runs scored by Dell Rapids helped them cruise to an 8-2 win over Sioux Falls on Tuesday. Dell Rapids scored four times in the bottom of the first. They extended the lead to 7-0 with single runs in the bottom of the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Each team got a run in the sixth inning, and Sioux Falls scored one more time in the top of the seventh.
Jacob Geraets had two hits and an RBI. Haiden Kaffar and Knox Cuny both had two hits each. Hudson Wolff had a single and two RBIs. Boden Mailey added a double and an RBI. Pano Skliris had a triple. Blake Lebahn, Isaac Ahlers, and Hayden King all had one hit each. Edgar Vazquez pitched two innings and allowed one hit and two walks with three strikeouts. Kaffar threw three innings and allowed two hits with two strikeouts. Mailey pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on a hit and three walks with three strikeouts.
Hills-Beaver Creek 11, Dell Rapids 10
A three-run top of the seventh gave Hills-Beaver Creek a come-from-behind win on Wednesday. Dell Rapids struck first with three runs in the bottom of the second. Hills-Beraver Creek tied the game after getting a run in the top of the third and two more in the fourth. Dell Rapids regained the lead 6-3 after three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The lead was short-lived as Hills-Beaver Creek scored five times in the top of the fifth for an 8-6 advantage. Dell Rapids again went back in front, 9-8, after another three-run inning, this time in the bottom of the sixth. Hills-Beaver Creek then grabbed an 11-9 lead after a three-run top of the seventh. Dell Rapids was only able to get one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Geraets finished with two hits and three RBIs. Vazquez and Kason Lebahn both had a hit and two RBIs. Camden Jones, Skliris, and King all had one hit each. Cuny added two RBIs, and Micah Schmidt had one RBI.
